Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: 2026-07-07
Hardware Math is an independent website offering free PC-hardware calculators (PSU wattage sizing, monitor PPI and viewing distance, and GPU power-connector checks) plus educational guides. This page explains our position on affiliate links in plain English.
The short version: as of the effective date below, this site contains no affiliate links, and we are not enrolled in Amazon Associates or any other affiliate program. Everything on the page beyond that is a forward-looking policy describing how we would handle affiliate links if we ever choose to add them. We are publishing it now so our commitments are on the record before any commercial relationship exists.
Current State: No Affiliate Links, No Programs
We want to be completely clear about where things stand today, because honesty here matters more than a polished marketing statement:
- There are currently no affiliate links anywhere on Hardware Math.
- We are not currently a participant in the Amazon Associates program.
- We are not currently enrolled in any other affiliate, referral, or partner-commission program.
- We earn no commission from any purchase you make after using our calculators or reading our guides, because there is nothing here that could generate one.
- We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any hardware brand — including NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, Amazon, Corsair, Seasonic, or Cooler Master. Any trademarks are used only to identify products and belong to their respective owners.
A Forward-Looking Policy (If and When This Changes)
It is possible that in the future we will add affiliate links — for example, a link to a power supply or monitor on a retailer's site — as one way to help fund the free tools. We have not done this yet and may never do it. But if we do, the following commitments will apply, and we would update this page (and its effective date) before or at the moment any such link goes live.
Publishing these rules in advance keeps us accountable to them.
How Affiliate Links Would Be Marked
If we ever add affiliate links, we would not hide them. You would be able to tell an affiliate link apart from an ordinary one:
- Clear labeling. Affiliate links, or the sections containing them, would be plainly disclosed as affiliate or sponsored links near the link itself — not buried in fine print.
- Honest link attributes. They would carry rel="sponsored nofollow" so that search engines and other tools can recognize the commercial relationship.
- Safe opening. Any link that opens in a new tab would use rel="noopener" (alongside sponsored and nofollow) so the destination cannot manipulate the Hardware Math page you came from.
- No dark patterns. No disguised buttons, no fake countdowns, no pressure to click. A link would just be a link.
Editorial Independence: Money Would Never Change Our Recommendations
This is the most important commitment on the page. If affiliate links are ever added, earning a commission would never influence what we recommend or how our tools work.
- The math stays the same. Our PSU wattage sizing, monitor PPI and viewing-distance, and GPU power-connector calculators would produce the same results whether or not a commission is possible. Affiliate relationships would have zero effect on any formula, output, or estimate.
- Guidance stays independent. We would not favor a product, brand, or retailer because it pays a commission, and we would not rank, praise, or steer you toward hardware for that reason.
- You are never charged more. Affiliate links, if added, would help fund the free tools at no extra cost to you — you would pay the retailer's normal price whether you use our link or not.
- Your choice remains yours. You never have to use an affiliate link. You can always go directly to any retailer or manufacturer yourself.
The Amazon Associates Disclosure (Conditional Example Only)
Because readers often look for it, here is the standard Amazon Associates disclosure — shown strictly as an example of what would appear if we ever joined that program. To be unmistakable: we are not currently an Amazon Associate, and the sentence below does not apply today.
Example wording that would appear only if we join the program in the future: "As an Amazon Associate, we would earn from qualifying purchases." Until and unless we announce enrollment and update this page, treat that sentence as a placeholder illustration, not a statement of fact about the current site.
What Has Not Changed and Will Not Change
Adding affiliate links in the future would not alter the fundamentally private, static nature of this site. For clarity:
- Hardware Math is a fully static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages, with no server-side code, no user accounts, no login, no database, and no backend of any kind.
- The site uses no analytics, no advertising scripts, and no third-party trackers, and it does not load third-party embeds, fonts, or images.
- The site sets no cookies at all. The only client-side storage is your browser's localStorage, holding a single value — your light/dark theme preference — which stays on your device and is never sent anywhere.
- Affiliate links, if added, are simply outbound links to a retailer. Whether you earn us a commission would depend entirely on what you do on that retailer's own site, under that retailer's own terms and privacy practices, which we do not control.
Estimates, Not Advice
This disclosure does not change how you should treat our tools. Calculator outputs are estimates for planning only. They are not electrical, engineering, safety, legal, financial, or professional advice.
Our hardware data is best-effort sample data that may need verification and is not guaranteed to be complete, current, or accurate. Always confirm details against the manufacturer's official specifications before buying or building. We make no guarantee of compatibility, stability, performance, or purchase outcomes — and that would remain true regardless of any affiliate link you might follow.
Questions
If you have questions about this policy, or you believe a link on the site is an undisclosed affiliate link, please let us know so we can fix it. You can reach us at simon.agentinfra@gmail.com.
Note: this is a placeholder email address that the site owner will replace with a real, monitored inbox before launch. There is no contact form and no backend on this site, so we do not collect any information you do not choose to send us directly.
Changes to This Disclosure
If our affiliate status ever changes — for example, if we join Amazon Associates or add affiliate links — we will update this page and revise the effective date so the disclosure always reflects the site's actual, current state.
Effective date: 2026-07-07. Any matters requiring a specific legal entity or governing jurisdiction are left as [jurisdiction to be specified by the site owner].
